The Digital SAT has been in effect since 2024, and the format is now well-established. Here's everything you need to know for 2026.
Test Format
- Total time: 2 hours 14 minutes
- Reading & Writing: 2 modules, 27 questions each, 32 minutes per module
- Math: 2 modules, 22 questions each, 35 minutes per module
- Scoring: 400-1600 (Reading & Writing: 200-800, Math: 200-800)
Adaptive Testing Explained
Module 2 difficulty adjusts based on your Module 1 performance:
- Score well on Module 1 → harder Module 2 (but higher score ceiling)
- Score poorly on Module 1 → easier Module 2 (but lower score ceiling)
This means your Module 1 performance is critical.
Key Strategy Tips
- Use Desmos on every math question where it's allowed
- Don't spend more than 90 seconds on any single question
- Answer every question — there's no penalty for guessing
- Use the annotation tool to highlight key evidence in reading passages
